A Walk to Taipei Main Station

Gone were the gloomy skies and annoying drizzle of rains. The sun is finally out and I am having the day off. Perfect day for a walk about. I was determined to push my step count up today, hence I walked for a good couple of miles from my hotel in Taipei Linsen North Road to the main station, and I took a couple of photos along the way.

Taipei is a super convenient city to flag down a metered Taxi, there's no haggling and most of them are honest, diligent driver.

Is very common to see scooter here in Taiwan, is no doubt the cheapest and most convenient transport to get around. But don't worry, in Taipei most of them follow the rules, unlike in Vietnam, or even Malaysia.

Taipei Main Station, completed in 1989 and since then has been a major transport hub till today. 3 companies operate in this station, the rail company, the metro, and the high speed rail; as well connected to the bus station. Since then it has been well preserved and renovated a couple of times.

There's an old coach right outside the main entrance for viewing.

I like that the roof is lined completely by glass, that allows ample sunlight into the hall as well keeping things warm during winter times.

Here's an overview of the main hall, seems like they are gearing up for some tourism exhibition... finally after so long the Covid restriction is lifted.

Can't say no to morning coffee, check in to Starbucks for a cup of Americano. The coffee shops and eateries are located on the 2nd floor, and you will be spoilt with choices, especially so if you're into Japanese food.

Here's a short clip to give you an idea.

I like how clean the main station is, there's no signs of gums or wrappers or stench.. is nicely lit everywhere and bright. I actually don't mind lingering around in the station, is not the case when I'm back in Malaysia.

Heading out once again to enjoy the sun, standing at the cross road, just looking at the busy streets and taking some shots.

Till next post...
