I had been to Taiwan numerous time, and not a single time I had tried the beef noodle, as I was within the vicinity of the shop, I decided to give it a try to see what's the Hype all about. LiuShanDong Beef Noodle shop is tucked away in a narrow alley way and is easy to be missed if you're not looking for it on purpose.
The small, almost shabby looking eatery did not deter foodie and die hard fans that are looking for a comforting bowl of hot noodle soup. The shop was packed with limited seating... we had to share a table with another customer, who seems to be quite use to sharing tables. Definitely a place for a quick fix and good meal rather than to sit and talk.
The options and pricing are clearly written in Chinese traditional character on a bright yellow board, that had probably been there since the humble beginning of the shop and is likely to be much older than I do.
I did not go for anything fancy but to have the standard beef noodle soup and a nice serving of fried pork ribs. The noodles are thick and chewy and served in clear beefy stock with lots of chopped spring onion.
The fried pork ribs are served hot, not much seasoning and slightly greasy. Is more to compliment the beef noodle rather than to be a main by its own.
By the time we are done, there's a long queue now outside the shop... Good thing we got there early. Till then...
