The local host was being generous and organized a party for us over the Christmas eve, with Beers, Cakes, Turkey even brought in from Dhaka the capital city, as our place was too far flung and there're basically nothing in between, except for peas, chicken and rice my daily meal servings.
The food is not the greatest, but I am well aware of the fact that the host probably did their best to offer what they could and with that I'm grateful that at least over the festive seasons when the people are faraway from their families and friends, they could feel a bit of warmth. The hotel which usually looks dull, under maintenance and likely in some kind of a financial trouble got themselves some decorative lighting and somewhat working sound system to blast Christmas songs throughout the night, more on the spectrum of noise pollution rather than joyful music.
The comforting part was definitely the local Beer, which to my surprise actually taste great and smooth. And I am wondering isn't Bangladesh a Muslim country? And what is Malaysia doing making a fuss about 'Timah' the liquor brand. The beer definitely help to wash down the heavy meat servings and over the top sugary cake icing that could send you straight to the hospital. I can't say that I didn't enjoy myself, having able to spent sometime talking with my colleagues and share a meal and beer together is not that easy these days, due to my busy work schedule, we laugh, joke and make fun of each other, some quality bonding time for sure. But not forgetting to take the time speaking to the customer who also joined us, for some networking session.
I had so much food in me at the end of the day. Spent Christmas morning sitting on the toilet bowl. Not the way I was hoping to spent Christmas morning.
