桂花酒酿汤圆@饶河夜市
Was a good and productive day at work, manage to close up all the items and decided to head back early. Hence, I decided to do something else rather to stay in my hotel room feeling like a Robot. A quick hot shower and I flagged down a taxi and headed to Rao He night market.
Is not my first time here now, since I started my job I had been in Taipei for a couple of times. But this would be the first time that I visited Taiwan after Covid 19, my last visit here was 2019, so I'm curious to see if there's anything change after so long. I'm so glad to see not much have change and the crowd is still there, the night market is lively as ever.
This time around, I'm a man on a mission as there is one specialty desert that I missed so much since I last had it was 3 years ago. And that Desert Shop is called '御品元冰火汤圆 Yu Pin Yuan Bing Huo Tang Yuan'. I'm so happy that the shop is still there, I almost couldn't find the shop as they renovated the store, and the front looks different, but I could definitely recognize the dessert.
They mainly serves two types of 汤圆 glutinous rice ball, sesame fillings or peanut fillings. You can either have both the flavors or choose either one of those. And the soup which taste alcoholic are made from sweet fermented rice called 酒酿 Jiu Niang, and you can have it plain either hot soup based on in Ice or serve it with egg, like the following picture.
Here's a picture of 酒酿 with egg. But I don't really fancy it, I felt it was a little over the top. Lucky that I have my colleague there to help finish it up or else is gonna be a waste.
Here's my main order, a combine flavor of sesame and peanut tang yuan serve with Ice shavings. The 桂花 Osmanthus syrup gives a light touch of sweetness and completes the desert. By the time I'm done, I was satisfy and happy. I call it mission accomplished.
Now that the stomach is filled, is time to walk around the night market and see what else is going on around RaoHe Night Market. If you walk towards the end of RaoHe Night market heading BaDe Road Section 4, you will arrived at this beautiful temple called ShongShan CiYou Temple.
And it seems that the local mayor election is just around the corner and I caught a glimpse of speech giving by the 民进党 DPP of Taiwan. People get very passionate here, and I can hear them chanting Dong Suan! Dong Suan! 当选！当选！
Hopefully, the politician don't like under the watchful eyes of God.
Feeling a little tired after the meal, I then head back for an early night rest. Hopefully Taiwan has a peaceful election, and may the right person elected to serve the beautiful city.
