I was in Taipei for work, and just around the corner of my hotel in Taipei Linsen north road lane 85, lies an interesting restaurant that is worth recommending. It serves good quality Japanese Izakaya type of food and the place look posh and comfortable. I was only in Taipei for about 14 days but I ate at that same shop for 6 times. That tells you how much I love that place as the barbeque pork belly stick is something to die for.
The place seems to be quite a popular spot as most of the night during dinner hours, it is fully packed. I'm mostly there after the peak hours. On the last day, they started noticing that I'm a regular and they gave me a nice little sweet spot at the corner, even thou I'm just alone. There's something special about Taiwanese, I guess in mandarin you say 人情味。
The design hits the spot of a Japanese minimalist style, everything feels just right, the space is just right, not overly cramp that you feel uncomfortable.
So the first dish that I ordered was stir fried Vienna sausages in mustard and onions. The Vienna sausage was authentic, tasted salty and savory balance by the onion with tinge of spiciness from the mustard sauce.
Next up is Tebasaki Yakitori, there's the right char on the skin and just the right crispiness but the meat are tender and juicy, I did not stop at 3. I went on an ordered more to satisfy my cravings.
I'm a sucker for Umeshu and they serve some really good ones here. I will go for several glasses upwards of 5 every time I'm here.
So if you ever gotten the chance to visit the place, I highly recommend that you give it a try. I will definitely return for more.
